At a recent Northern Beaches Council meeting, a majority of Councillors voted to axe the much loved Hop, Skip & Jump bus service from five routes, to one. Some elected Councillors have stated that operating this service should no longer be their responsibility.

The Hop, Skip & Jump has been servicing the Manly community for over a decade, and has operated as a lifeline for our vulnerable and those without the means to access private transport options. Cutting this service during a cost-of-living crisis will disproportionately impact those who need it most.

I am calling on the Northern Beaches Council to reinstate this vital service. Should Council refuse, I am calling on Transport for NSW and Keolis Downer to work with the Northern Beaches Council to expand its on-demand bus service, KeoRide, to the Manly Area to ensure those who relied on the Hop, Skip & Jump are not left behind.
