Member for Manly, James Griffin MP, has announced that $50,000 in funding has been secured for the long-overdue installation of new sportsfield lighting at Keirle Park in Manly.

Member for Manly, James Griffin MP, has announced that $50,000 in funding has been secured for the long-overdue installation of new sportsfield lighting at Keirle Park in Manly.

The funding has been awarded to Northern Beaches Council under the NSW Government’s Infrastructure Grants Program.

“Keirle Park is a much-loved green space in the heart of Manly, and I am delighted to announce this much-needed upgrade,” Mr Griffin said.

“These new sports lights will make a real difference for local clubs and community members, particularly those who rely on the park for training and recreation in the evenings.”

The project will directly benefit a number of local clubs including the Manly Marlins and the Manly Roos Junior Rugby Club, as well as residents and all those who utilise Keirle Park all year-round.

“The installation of this lighting means more opportunity for safe, accessible and extended use of the playing fields – especially during the winter months when the days are shorter,” Mr Griffin said.

“This is a great example of state government funding being used in the right way – delivering practical improvements that support active lifestyles and grassroots sport while strengthening our local community.”

The Infrastructure Grants Program is administered by the NSW Office of Responsible Gambling, with funding made possible through ClubGRANTS Category 3. The program reinvests profits from registered clubs’ gaming machines into community infrastructure projects, while providing a tax concession to participating clubs.

“I will always advocate for funding that delivers tangible benefits for our local clubs and the community, and getting these lights up and running at Keirle Park will do exactly that,” Mr Griffin said.
