Dear Resident,
As we approach Christmas, I would like to take a moment to wish you and your loved ones a safe, peaceful and restful Christmas.
Recent days have been incredibly difficult for many across our city. There has been heartbreak that words cannot adequately express, and it has been felt deeply by families, friends and communities near and far.
Yet even in the midst of sorrow, we have seen extraordinary compassion. Acts of kindness, quiet support for strangers, and people standing together have reminded us of the strength of our community and the values that bind us.
Christmas is a time to pause, to reflect, and to reconnect with those who matter most. This year, more than ever, I encourage you to spend time with your loved ones, to check in on a friend or neighbour, and to reach out to someone who may be doing it tough.
If you or someone you know is feeling overwhelmed, isolated or in need of support this Christmas, there are wonderful local organisations who are ready to help:
- Lifeline Northern Beaches: 13 11 14
- LocalKind Northern Beaches: (02) 9977 1066
- Northern Beaches Women’s Shelter: 1800 737 732
I am deeply grateful to the locals, businesses, volunteers and community organisations who give so generously their time and care throughout the year. I also want to acknowledge those who work, often quietly and without recognition, to keep our community safe and supported during the holidays, including our surf lifesavers, volunteers, police officers, nurses and paramedics.
I hope this holiday period brings moments of rest and opportunities to enjoy the simple things that make living on the Northern Beaches so special. I wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a happy new year.
Yours sincerely,
