Night at the Barracks Returns

For the fourth year running, Member for Manly, James Griffin MP, has welcomed the return of the iconic Night at the Barracks, a standout event on the Manly calendar.

From 12 September to 5 October, the Barracks Precinct at North Head Sanctuary will come alive yet again with a spectacular program of performances. With the full lineup to be announced shortly, this year’s event is shaping up to be another unmissable success.

“What began as a bold idea during the darkest days of COVID-19 has grown into a marquee event on our local calendar, demonstrating what’s possible when creativity and collaboration are backed by a shared vision,” said Mr Griffin.

“Now entering its fourth year, Night at the Barracks continues to transform our local economy, attracting high-calibre performances while supporting local artists and driving foot traffic to local businesses.”

The concept was one of several innovative ideas fast-tracked by the Manly Tourism Taskforce, formed by Mr Griffin alongside local stakeholders during the pandemic to identify new ways to stimulate the visitor economy and support the local business community at a time of unprecedented challenge.

“It’s been so pleasing to see how the groundwork laid by the Tourism Taskforce has translated into lasting momentum. Night at the Barracks is just one example of the ideas that have grown from that effort to deliver real benefits for our local community and visitor economy, while promoting Manly’s arts and culture scene.

“Importantly, sustainability and heritage preservation remain front and centre in the planning of this event,” Mr Griffin said. “It’s not just about seeing great acts – it’s about celebrating this extraordinary site and giving back to the community. As in previous years, a portion of each ticket sold will support vital local services and charities.”

The event’s success is a credit to Northern Beaches-based Second Sunday and the tireless efforts of Cameron Coghlan and Brendan Maher, whose determination to establish Manly as a premier live entertainment destination has been pivotal to the continued success of Night at the Barracks.
